A few steps away from McGill University, a destination for the best macchiato in Town. Managed by 2 passionate baristas in a retro-contemporary décor of warmth, and authenticity.

The client was fond of warm and minimalist décor. Few interventions were necessary to revamp this French bistro. The façade and the drop ceiling in the window were painted in a dark gray to create a continuance from the outside to the inside and an over scale volume that would be appreciated from afar. The new suspended glass light fixtures and creative vertical stripes on the wall perfectly fit with the urban elegance the client strived for.

The integration of motifs, volumes, textures and tone on tones were the artistic direction to create an atmosphere of a classic French residence.

CAFÉ MONT-ROYAL

Once upon a time, a jewellery box was crafted of detailed mouldings and carved trims, lacquered in high gloss carmine red color, resembling a European antique.

This window over the Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood was inspired by the « French bistros ». “The fine cuisine has to be the center of attention”, claims the owner.

“O’thym” is a wordplay in French, meaning pretentious and the spice at the same time… but this place is far from being presumptuous! Amongst artist souls and the city Homo sapiens, it is located in the heart of the downtown area, the cultural destinations and the night life.

This is a take-out counter slash cosy bistro! Imagine a small room of 340 sq.ft shaped in a triangle, finished strictly with recycled materials… this is where our big mandate begins! With great local cuisine, it was necessary to have an authentic decor.
